Calgary

Every time I come back to Calgary I always notice how much it has changed since I lived here.
For one thing, everything and everyone seems fancier. I've always thought Calgary was this fairly laid back town, where people didn't get dressed up to go for a pint, but apparently that's all changed. Not to mention the fact that people now watch Flames games. It's nice to see that the bandwagon has lasted a while, but in some respects I'd like it to die down a bit. I miss the days where it didn't matter if the Flames were playing or not and you could go to a bar and have a beer without worrying if you'd get a seat or not. These days, every bar has a TV and is packed with people watching the game. Sometimes, I don't want to watch the game...
I also tend to forget how big Calgary is. Man, I've driven a lot in the last couple days. Not sure if that's because I forget how big Calgary is or if I deny how small Medicine Hat is. Could be both.

I remember reading online (which means it *must* be true, right?) that Calgary covers as many square miles as New York City - but with considerably less population density. Every time I get on one of those %(*^ trails I have to agree with that assessment, whether it's actually true or not.
