'Those' phone calls

Any of my readers involved in journalism know what I'm talking about. It's that phone call that we all will have to make at some point and none of us want to make. Picking up the phone to call the grieving parents whose child has died. I had to make my first of those phone calls this week, and let me tell you it wasn't fun.
I was lucky that the father was willing to speak with me, and he kept it together amazingly well. I think I managed to do my job, though I know there were questions I could have asked that I forgot to, but I was just focusing on not saying the wrong thing.
Now it's over, I made the first of those calls, and it probably won't be the last, now I've gone through that all important journalism right of passage.
It's been one hell of a week.
