Old School

It's safe to say I'm pretty old school. Thought that is a funny thing to post on a blog, which is decidedly not old school, I'm pretty sure it's true.
And as much I enjoy technolgy and all the gadgets that come with it, in many ways I like the old stuff better.
I love my iPod, it's small and convenient and means I don't have to travel with a huge stack of CDs, but I prefer my CDs. Actually given the choice I choose vinyl, but well, it's hard to come by and I no longer have a turntable.
I read the news online, but would rather have a newspaper or magazine, I like flipping the pages and marking them up and in a dorky way there's nothing better than being covered in black ink, because it means I really read the paper.
I email, but truly miss writing letters -- though the people I would send letters to prefer my emails because it means they don't have to read my handwriting. I despise text messaging, maybe because I'm bad at it, but mostly because I hate not using full words, sentances and punctuation.
I use messenger because it saves on long-distance bills, but I like the phone or hell, a conversation in person (preferably over beer or coffee).
I get a strange 'man I'm old' feeling whenever I hear about how everything in schools has become computerized, and a part of me misses the days of chalkboards and dusty brushes. Even though it was easier on my terrible eyes when my school installed white boards.
Maybe this is all a sign that I'm more sentimentatl than I like to admit, and it totally means that when I'm actually old I'll be one of those people who says 'back in my day...'
