Excuses, excuses

I'm going to provide more excises as to my lack of blogging.
After a busy family vacation, it was back to work. Then after only a few short days I got a new job and have spent the past three weeks running around like crazy to move across the country again.
I will now be working at the Peterborough Examiner, and am happy to be back in Ontario though I will miss my western friends and family.
Some things I've learned. Moving is exhausting, especially when it's your third cross-country move in four years.
It's considerably faster to drive cross-country through the U.S. than Canada. It's a very dull drive but definitely faster. On my souhern drive, I learned that North Dakota is a lot like Saskatchewan, but you can drive 75 miles per hour on the Interstate. There are remarkably few gas stations off the Interstate in Minnesota, there are signs that say there's gas, but they lie.
Wisconsin is also boring, but they have cheese, though you can only drive 65 mph (what's with that?)
Salt and vinegar chips are really hard to find in the US, Holiday Inn Express kicks the Travelodge's ass and the border guards have nothing to do in North Dakota.
I also noticed a suprising lack of Dunkin Donuts, Jack in the Boxes and White Castles (which really gives a better context to Harold and Kumar's adventure). But in Illinois, where there are lots of toll roads, they have these great little food court-type stops and they all house a Starbucks.
It was a fast and furious drive, and in the end all I can say is I love the I-94.
Postings on my new adventures in Peterborough should follow shortly, but probably not until I get into my apartment and get some furniture.
